OXNARD, Calif. – In the first padded practice of training camp, Dak Prescott exited the field during the team period. Fans held their breath in anticipation, fearing an ankle-related setback for QB1.
Prescott participated in individual drills earlier in the day but sat out of 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills. He started experiencing soreness in his right arm during warmups, according to a team source. Prescott did not want to push deep throws downfield and left early to have his arm evaluated by team doctors. Team officials expressed Prescott is not “concerned” and his limitations were simply a precaution. The organization dodged a bullet. If last year proved anything, it is the value they have in their franchise quarterback, garnering a lucrative four-year, $160 million contract extension for No. 4.
Backup Garrett Gilbert stepped in as the starting quarterback in Prescott’s absence, along with Ben DiNucci and Cooper Rush seeing additional reps.
