FRISCO, Texas – On Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys conducted their first practice featuring the current 53-man roster in preparation of the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The team’s roster shuffled once again on Thursday with several players being activated/cleared for practice and others moving to injured reserve. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, defensive tackle Carlos Watkins, and free safety Damontae Kazee were activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. In addition, six players were placed on the Reserve/Injured list: Defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, cornerback Kelvin Joseph, offensive tackle Josh Ball, wide receiver Malik Turner, tight end Sean McKeon and linebacker Francis Bernard.
All six were on the 53-man roster for one day, meaning they are eligible to return after a mandated three-week period. Those changes created open spots on the roster. The club brought back long snapper Jake McQuaide and signed veteran running back Corey Clement. Clement is expected to replace Rico Dowdle (Reserve/Injured- hip) on the roster as the backup behind Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard and will contribute on special teams.
Punter Bryan Anger is projected to be signed and left guard Connor Williams to be activated off the COVID list in the next couple of days, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
