FORT WORTH, TX — Zach Evans has been named Big 12 Offensive Player of the week by The Big 12 Conference after his stellar performance in Saturday’s 34-32 win over Cal.
Evans finished the game with 190 yards rushing for 22 carries and had one touchdown. His momentum changing 51-yard touchdown with 11 seconds left to conclude the half excelled the team into halftime with a big energy booster.
TCU came into the third quarter with a 15-play, 75-yard drive and it took all of six minutes before the Frogs took the lead and remained on top the remainder of the game.
Evan’s 190 yards rushing and 22 carries are the most ever by a Horned Frog in a single game since Sewo Olonilua ran for 194 yards on 32 attempts in the 10-7 overtime win against Cal in the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl.
Evans is one of the highest ranked running backs in the nation and is not talked about as much as everyone expected. He stated after the game on Saturday, “I don’t pay attention to that. Just put me on the field and I’ll show you what I can do.”
Evans was a huge contributor in Saturday’s win against Cal. He currently leads the team with a total of 217 yards rushing so far this season on a 8.0 per carry average.
