SMU Ready To Battle For The Iron Skillet

DALLAS, Texas — Last weekend the SMU Mustangs defeated Louisiana Tech 39-37 with a Hail Mary win with no time left on the as quarterback Tanner Mordecai threw for a 32 yard touchdown that was completed by wide receiver Reggie Roberson for the win. The Mustangs remain undefeated as they prepare to face TCU in 100th battle for “The Iron Skillet.”

SMU is looking to open the season with five straight wins in three consecutive seasons for the first time since 1981-83. The 3-0 start is the first time in three consecutive seasons since 1982-84.

TCU is 2-0 to open the season and is coming off an open date after wins over Duquense and California. The Horned Frogs are averaging 39.5 points per game and 468.0 yards of total offense.

SMU head Coach Sonny Dykes met with media as the Mustangs prepare for the Horned Frogs this Saturday. “They look like a typical TCU team. A lot of speed and they are really good defensively. They play hard and they always know what they’re doing,” says Dykes.

SMU will take on TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium this Saturday, September 25th at 10am CT.
