FC Dallas Falls 1-3 to Sporting Kansas City

(FRISCO,TX) – The season progresses for FC Dallas, this time a new change comes forth with the absence of, ex-coach Luchi Gonzalez. Gonzalez was let go from the organization this past week, subsequently after a loss to local Texas team, the Houston Dynamo.

Coming back from its most recent match to Vancouver, FC Dallas came home to take on Sporting KC. The starters, Ferreira, Twumasi, Pepi, Obrian blocked the first series of attempts until the 13th minute, KC scored its first goal of the night by the power house- forward , Dániel Sallói.

The first half accumulated to, 2 fouls marked by Acosta, who despite has had an impressive season, with an overall 34 shots attempted. This is only behind his highest score of  60 accumulated in the 2019 season.

The first half closed with KC leading the scoreboard 1 to 0. Leading up to the second half opening with a substitution, with the forward Szabolcs Schön replacing defender, Nkosi Burgess. Immediately into the switch,  Schönattempted a left footed shot from the left side of the box. The Hungarian forward is a recent addition to the club,  having played 2 seasons in Hungary, he’s had a noteworthy start. With several attempted shots in every match, the young player is on his way on becoming a staple addition, especially in his strengths in garnering assists.

Heading back to the match, with just 15 minutes into the second half, the Scottish Winger, Johnny Russell, scored KC’s second goal of the night by converting a penalty with a left footed shot from the bottom right corner, followed up by Sallói shooting his goal.

With a  3-point lead from Sporting KC, Dallas followed up  with an immediate succession of substitutions, back to back, taking off Quignón, Obrian and Shelton.

Interim, Marco Ferruzi, recently stepped in for the second time since he began with the league and now with FCD under his direction, states the players will continue to fight until the season ends.  “Emotions are running high…this is not the outcome we expected but after that we have to come out, regroup and come back”.

The second half was a stronger outcome for Dallas, as the homegrown forward, Pepi scored a right footed shot from the box to the bottom right corner assisted by Hollingshead who just came back from an injury. Hollingshead states it has been a difficult last couple of days coming back from an ankle injury. Stating, “Just recovering from my injury and seeing the team, support them however…the focus now is , I’m trying to get healthy, positive…and believe  that things will start to change.”

The game concluded with a 1-3 scoreboard. With only 6 games left, mathematically FCDallas can still make the playoffs, something Ricardo Pepi says, “we plan to keep pushing forward”.
