TCU Looking to Bounce Back Against Texas Tech After Back-to-Back Losses

LUBBOCK, TX – TCU (2-2, 0-1) is looking to bounce back against Texas Tech (4-1, 1-1) after back-to-back losses against SMU and Texas the last two weekends.

TCU is going into this Saturday’s game after a 32-27 loss to Texas this past Saturday. The Horned Frogs put up a fight against Texas after the Longhorns blew Texas Tech out of the water the previous Saturday.

The inconsistencies on defense and the failure to make clutch plays resulted in a victory for the Longhorns. The Horned Frogs run defense has been a problem in the last couple games, SMU put up 595 rushing yards on TCU and Texas put up 272 rushing yards.

Texas Tech doesn’t have the strongest run game and their current starting running back Tahj Brooks is questionable for Saturday’s game due to a leg injury. If Brooks does not play Saturday Tech has little chance of beating TCU in the run game with the explosive weapon TCU has, Zach Evans.

Evans is a huge threat that the Horned Frogs continue to look to when they are down. Evans has had three consecutive games with 100 yards or more and is ranked first in the Big 12 averaging 7.8 yards per carry.

Head coach Gary Patterson was asked in Tuesday’s presser about Zach Evans touches in the game against Texas.

“I would never do 35 carries like they did for the guy at Texas [Robinson] if you want to last four years…[Evans] does need more touches, though.”

Texas Tech passing defense is giving up 268 passing yards and 11 touchdowns, the most in the Big 12. Max Duggan will need to expose Texas Tech’s defense by using his wide receivers. Couple that with Evans at the running back position and TCU should be able to take home a victory.

Kick off is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
