Mavericks Looking For Their Second Home Win of the Season Against San Antonio on Tonight

DALLAS, TX – The Dallas Mavericks (2-1) are welcoming the San Antonio Spurs (1-3) to American Airlines Center tonight at 7:30 PM.

Dallas is coming off a good win this Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets at their home opener. It took every Mavericks player to get the win, quite literally, all 15 active Mavs players played in Tuesday night’s game and everyone had a role in the victory.

Luka Doncic led all scorers with 26 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 16 points and two rebounds.

The big story from Tuesday night’s game was the Mavs bench. All 10 bench players played in Tuesday’s matchup against the Rockets and combined for 52 of the 116 points.

They were led by Reggie Bullock, he had 16 points and shot 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.

The Mavs did get the win but they can definitely improve. They haven’t shot the ball well yet this season, especially from the three-point line and that was still an issue against the Rockets. They shot 46 percent from the floor and just 27 percent from beyond the arc.

It was a big reason they went into the locker room down to the Rockets, Houston was simply shooting better than Dallas.

Kristaps Porzingis left Tuesday’s game in the third quarter with lower back tightness and did not return for the remainder of the game. He had nine points and three rebounds on the night. Dallas fans are starting to question KP and his ability to produce for this Mavs team. He has many eyes on him for Thursday’s game to see what he can bring to the table against the neighboring San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs are 1-3 on the season and just came off a tough overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers 125-121 on Tuesday night.

San Antonio was led by Jakob Poeltl with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Dejounte Murray helped out and contributed a triple-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 15 assists. That was his fifth recorded triple-double and he missed a jump shot in the closing seconds that if made would’ve won the game for the Spurs.

San Antonio shot 46 percent from the floor and 33 percent from beyond the arc.

Both teams are struggling with shooting the three-pointers. It should be a good matchup in the American Airlines Center tonight. Tip off is set for 7:30 PM and will be broadcasted on Bally Sports SW.
