TCU Moves To 3-5 After 31-12 Loss To Kansas State

MANHATTAN, KS – TCU (3-5, 1-4) moves to 3-5 after a 31-12 loss to Kansas State in Manhattan on Saturday afternoon. This is the Horned Frogs third straight loss since beating Texas Tech in week 5.

The Horned Frogs have struggled this season offensively this season and that continued in today’s showdown between these two teams. The Horned Frogs started off with the ball and ended up punting after a seven-play series.

Kansas State took over the ball and after eight plays and 78 yards the Wildcats were on the board after a four yard running touchdown by Skylar Thompson.

TCU’s next offensive drive was short lived and they were forced to punt yet again.

The Horned Frogs defense intercepted Thompson’s pass and it turned into a field goal. TCU was on the board 7-3 to end the first quarter.

Kansas started the second quarter off with a 42 yard run for a touchdown from Deuce Vaughn to put Kansas State ahead 14-3.

TCU defense rattled K-State yet again and Dee Winters got a safety for the Horned Frogs adding two more on the board, 14-5.

The Horned Frogs offense stayed quick for the remainder of the half and the third quarter while the Wildcats were adding them up.

Kansas State added two more touchdowns and a field goal while TCU scored one touchdown with one minute remaining in the game leaving TCU to come up short to the Wildcats, 31-12.

The late touchdown avoids TCU’s lowest point total since 1993.

Skylar Morris threw for 242 yards and had one touchdown. Deuce Vaughn led with 109 yards rushing and had two touchdowns on the night.

Max Duggan threw for 73 yards before he was replaced with Chandler Morris who converted on 9 of 14 throws for 111 yards.

Head Coach Gary Patterson said that he wanted more QB movement in tonight’s game and Duggan’s foot looked like it was giving him some problems.

Kendre Miller led the rush offense with 102 yards.

TCU has struggled this entire season and there needs to be some changes in Fort Worth if we want to see some type of change in this team.

TCU will head back to Fort Worth to take on the Baylor Bears this upcoming Saturday in Amon G. Carter Stadium. Kickoff is TBD.
