FORT WORTH, TX – TCU (3-5) and Head Coach Gary Patterson are parting ways immediately and Coach Patterson will not be finishing out the season with the Horned Frogs.
The news broke on Sunday afternoon by NBC 5’s Newy Scruggs and has been confirmed.
According to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Drew Davison the parting was mutual and the assistant Head Coach Jerry Kill will be taking over for the remainder of the season. TCU’s athletic director will be starting the search for a new Head Coach immediately.
Patterson is one of the longest serving football coaches in college history. He was hired on by TCU in 1998 and has been with the program ever since. He joined as a defensive coordinator and was named head coach in 2000. He is currently the most winningest coach that TCU has had with a record of 181-79.
The Horned Frogs currently sit at 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in the Big 12 Conference. They are second to last in front of Kansas.
The Horned Frogs will be home against Baylor this Saturday afternoon in Fort Worth and tip off is set for 2:30 P.M.
