DALLAS, TX – The Mavericks (4-3) undefeated win streak at home has ended tonight after losing to the Miami Heat (6-1) 125-110.
Dallas hit four three-pointers in the first six minutes of the game going up 10 points on the heat, 17-10. The Heat went on a 6-0 run with 3:45 left in the first quarter to come within five points but the Mavs defense didn’t let them shoot how they wanted, they held the Heat to zero three-pointers in the first 10 minutes of the first quarter.
Mavs took the quarter 30-24. The Heat only shot 34 percent in the first quarter and the Mavs held them to one three-pointer. The Mavs shot 50 percent from the floor and shot 5-11 from beyond the arc.
The Heat came out and went on a 13-6 run to start the second quarter, going up one on the Mavs and forcing a timeout by Dallas.
Miami picked things up on offense and started shooting extremely well from beyond the arc. Tyler Herro heated it up and had 15 points in the second quarter. Miami scored seven of their last nine three-pointers in the first 10 minutes of the second quarter.
The Heat ended the quarter with eight unanswered three-pointers and went into the half up eight points, 70-62.
Dallas trailed Miami the entire third quarter. The Heat continued to shoot well from beyond the arc, shooting 64 percent from three.
The Mavs went into the fourth quarter down 11 points after a buzzer beater shot from Jalen Brunson to end the third quarter. The Mavs couldn’t hold Miami off defensively as the Heat brought their fire power and three of their five starters scored 22 points or more in tonight’s matchup.
Jimmy Butler had 23 points on the night, six rebounds and six assists. Kyle Lowry scored six three-pointers and had 22 points on the night.
Luka Doncic led all scorers tonight for the Mavs with 33 points, three rebounds, and five assists.
Jalen Brunson had a great day of shooting, he shot 10-of-13 and had 25 points on the night with seven rebounds and three assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 17 points and three rebounds.
Porzingis missed his fourth consecutive game tonight due to lower back tightness.
The Mavs will head to San Antonio to play the Spurs tomorrow night at 7:30 PM.
