PHOENIX, AZ – The Dallas Mavericks (9-4) are heading to the West Coast for four games on the road and the first stop is Pheonix. The Suns (10-3) are on a nine-game win streak and are looking for a 10th.
Dallas is coming off a great 111-101 win against the Nuggets Monday night. Kristaps Porzingis led the Mavs with a double-double 29 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. He caught fire midway through the third to really excel Dallas. He had 24 points in 20 minutes which led Dallas to outscoring Denver in the third and fourth quarter to take the 10 point win.
Since coming back from his back injury that kept him out for five straight games, Porzingis is averaging 23.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and he was 5-of-8 from beyond the arc last night.
Dallas went on a 17-6 run with the help of Tim Hardaway Jr., Reggie Bullock, and Dorian Finney-Smith due to Doncic and Porzingis being on the bench. Hardaway Jr. also helped kick it in gear in the fourth quarter shooting 13-of-19 in the fourth.
”We felt that was a lineup that could get going, give us some energy, some physicality,” Kidd said. ”And that’s what they brought.”
Dallas is currently sitting at 9-4 after last nights win and jumped Denver in the standings sitting in third in the Western Conference behind the 10-3 Suns and the 11-2 Warriors. Dallas is 7-1 against Western Conference teams going into tomorrow night’s matchup against the Suns.
The Mavs are led by Luka Doncic averaging 24.9 points per game and 8.3 rebounds. Porzingis is on a hot streak as well averaging 23.2 points and 7.2 rebounds.
Phoenix is second in the Western Conference and are 8-3 against Western Conference teams currently averaging 111 points per game and shooting 47 percent. The Suns are 9-1 in their last 10 games and averaging 112 points per game, 46 rebounds, 26 assists, and 10.2 steals.
Phoenix is led by Devin Booker. He is currently averaging 22.9 points per game, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists for the Suns.
They also have the help of Chris Paul, he is averaging 14.9 points per game and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 48.6 percent.
Tip off is set for 9 P.M. in the Valley.
