TCU Hosts Nicholls State Tonight

FORT WORTH, TX – For its eighth-straight season, TCU is now 2-0 and will welcome Nicholls State (3-1) to Schollmaier Arena tonight in a non-conference matchup.

TCU leads the series 1-0 as the only meeting between the teams was in 1990 where TCU defeated Nicholls State 107-59.

The Horned Frogs are coming off of an 83-51 win over Southern Miss. The win being the largest point margin of victory since 2019 for the Frogs.

While undefeated, Head Coach Jamie Dixon still saw room for improvement on Monday.

“We knew offensively, we’ve got to continue to improve. We’ve got a lot of guys, and that’s where your rhythm really comes from,” Dixon said. “Defensively, [we are] pretty good. I feel like we can do better.”

Similar to TCU, Nicholls State started the season off undefeated. In its most recent matchup, the Colonels fell to Baylor, the defending national champions, 89-60 Monday.

So far this season, Mike Miles leads the Frogs in scoring with an average of 21 points per game, while Emanuel Miller has put up 12 points, 13 rebounds and two steals.

For the Colonels, guard Ty Gordon has averaged 18.8 points per game, shooting 60.4% from the floor. Latrell Jones is the second leading scorer averaging 13.3 points per game.

While the Nicholls State leaders aren’t as up to the mark as Miles and Miller, the Colonels defense has forced opponents into turnovers on 28.8% of all possessions, and ranks No. 17 among Division I teams. The TCU offense has turned the ball over on 23% of its possessions this season.

TCU’s Damion Baugh missed Monday’s game due to injury and his return is still questionable.

Tune into ESPN+ as the Horned Frogs attempt to start its season 3-0 for its sixth-straight year. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena.
