FRISCO, Texas – As a former Raider, Amari Cooper will miss the opportunity to face an old AFC West opponent. The wide receiver is out for Sunday’s showdown at Arrowhead Stadium. The Cowboys have placed Cooper on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Dallas is on a shortened schedule following the Week 11 matchup and turnaround to face Cooper’s former team, the Las Vegas Raiders, on Thanksgiving Day. In addition, he will likely miss that game. Cooper’s vaccination status will be a determining factor in his status for the game against New Orleans on Dec. 2.
The Cowboys lead the league in nearly every statistical passing category as the No. 1 ranked offense, but Cooper’s absence will be a major blow against the Chiefs. Michael Gallup returned last week against the Falcons and his inclusion prompted more slot work for CeeDee Lamb. Both Cooper and Lamb were nursing injuries against the Broncos and having all three at full strength vs. Kansas City would have been optimal.
Without the route running technician, the Cowboys’ top three receivers will be Lamb, Gallup, and Cedrick Wilson. Noah Brown and Malik Turner are viable rotational options as well.
