DALLAS, Texas — SMU beat Vanderbilt 84-72 Saturday evening. The Mustangs are 7-3 overall, on a 4 game win streak. The Commodores fall to 5-2 so far this season.
Vanderbilt slowly established a lead throughout the first half, taking a 12-point lead into the break. Head Coach Time Jankovich said “I have a lot of faith in the character of our guys,” and knew they could win it in the 2nd half.
Scottie Pippen Jr. led the Commodores with 29-points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds. Kendric Davis led the Mustangs with 21-points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Zach Nutall scored 20-points in a big second half that was huge for the Mustangs comeback.
Davis earned AAC Weekly Honor Roll for his performances in the 3 games last week. Davis leads the country, as the only one averaging at least 20 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
The Mustangs are 6-0 in Moody so far this season. They’ll have a chance for another home win on Wednesday, hosting Dayton.
