FORT WORTH, TX – TCU Horned Frogs (10-2) fall short to the Baylor Bears tonight (15-0) 76-74 after a hard fought battle in Fort Worth. This game was back and forth the entire first half with both teams playing really solid basketball.

TCU’s defense was a sight to see in the first half, they forced nine Baylor turnovers in the first half that resulted in points for the Horned Frogs.

TCU got into a shooting slump with 6:04 left in the first half and went down eight points to the Bears but with the help of Mike Miles he slammed a three to turn things around. Within two minutes TCU was back in it tied at 29-29 with three minutes left in the half.

The very next play Miles hit a jump shot and got fouled and had the opportunity for an and one play and he did just that. The momentum changed after that play and TCU went on a 8-0 run going into the half up 37-31.

Miles had 18 points going into the locker room.

TCU went into the second half with the same intensity as they did in the first half. Mike Miles got fouled on a three-pointer for the opportunity for a four point play. Miles knocked down the freethrow and TCU was up 44-36 on Baylor.

Baylor went on a run and TCU got down seven with 13 minutes left in the game but the Horned Frogs didn’t lay down. Miles hit a fast break pass to Peavy and he got fouled after making the basket. After the three point play was completed TCU was within three, down 54-51.

TCU got in a shooting slump late in the second half and went down 11 to the bears with 3:10 left in the game. Fatigue started to kick in for the Horned Frogs and they started to look sluggish on defense. They weren’t blocking out the shooters and the shooters weren’t missing. Baylor guard Adam Fralger hit six three-pointers in the second half to lead Baylor to a 12 point victory.

Mike Miles told us in the post game press conference that he thought they played hard. He said his team is bigger and more athletic than they were last year so they were confident that they could hang with the number one team in the nation. He said that they do need to work on playing hard for all 40 minutes.

TCU will head to Kansas State on Wednesday to play the Wildcats. Tip off is set for 8:00 P.M.

KEY PLAYERS:

Mike Miles had 26 points, one rebound, and four assists.

Chuck O’Bannon Jr. had 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
