Mavericks Looking For Their Seventh Straight Win As They Face The Knicks

NEW YORK, NY – The Dallas Mavericks (22-18) will head to New York in search of their seventh straight win as they face off the Knicks (20-21) on Wednesday night.

The Mavs are coming off a 113-99 win over Chicago on Sunday night. Dallas went into the half up 55-54, with a dominating performance in the fourth quarter, Dallas took over the game and ended with their sixth straight win over the Bulls.

It was no secret when Head Coach Jason Kidd was hired to take over the Mavericks that he strived to be a defensively driven team. It was discussed on many occasions that that was going to be a big change within this Dallas organization. Kidd has done that as Dallas currently stands in the top five defensive teams in the NBA.

The Mavs defense has forced four teams to score under 90 points while playing Dallas, including the Golden State Warriors, who are arguably one of the best teams in the NBA.

Luka Doncic led Dallas in its win against the Bulls with a triple-double. Doncic ended the night with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists. Maxi Kleber had 18 points, four rebounds and two assists. Jalen Brunson added 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

All five starters scored in double figures and it was a team win for Dallas.

Kristaps Porzingas did not play against the Bulls because of COVID-19. That was his fifth missed game with Dallas and he will sit out again tomorrow against the Knicks.

Yesterday the Mavericks announced they have signed forward Marquese Chriss for a third 10-day contract. He signed his first 10 days on December 21 and his second on December 31. He will be joining Dallas tomorrow as they take on the Knicks.

The Knicks are coming into this game below .500 but had a great game against the Spurs Monday night. RJ Barrett had 31 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

These two teams will go head to head Wednesday January 12th at 6:30 PM.
