DALLAS, TX – The Dallas Mavericks (33-24) fell to the LA Clippers (28-30) tonight 99-97 after beating them on Thursday night 112-105.
Luka Doncic had incredible nights in both games for the Mavs, scoring a career-high 51 points on Thursday and following that up tonight with 45 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists. Doncic dropped 23 in the fourth quarter but missed a buzzer beater shot for the win.
Doncic scored 96 points between both games against the Clippers, that’s the most points scored against the same opponent back-to-back since 1967 when Wilt Chamaberlin scored 100 against the SuperSonics.
Jalen Brunson followed with 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
The game was tight the entire time with no team taking a significant lead over the other. Mavs won the first quarter but only by a three-pointer. The Clippers came back and won the second quarter to take a one point lead into half time.
The game was back and forth the entire second half. Even with Docnic scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter it wasn’t enough for the mavs to pull out a win.
Dallas will head on a five-game road trip and finish out the rest of February on the road. They will return March 3 to American Airlines Center where they will play the Warriors.
Next up Dallas will play the Miami Heat on Tuesday at 6 PM.
