TCU Falls to No. 9 Texas Tech 82-69 After Tremendous First Half

LUBBOCK, TX – TCU (16-6) comes up short to No. 9 Texas Tech (19-6) on Saturday afternoon 82-69 after turnovers in the second half ruin TCU’s opportunity for a victory in Lubbock.

The Frogs started off the first half creating a big lead by going 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. They got as high as a 13 point lead taking a 40-37 lead into the half.

Turnovers were the answer the entire second half for TCU. They ended the night with 20 turnovers, the number of turnovers they had in their previous game was high as well (17) but Coach Dixon told u spost game it was something they were working on. 20 turnovers against a No. 9 nationally ranked team just isn’t going to give you a win.

TCU only scored 29 points in the second half while Tech scored 45.

The Frogs shooting is still an issue and it has been all season, Coach Dixon has spoke on that as well saying, “We know we aren’t a good shooting team so we make it up with our defense and with our rebounding.”

TCU did not do any of the three tonight. They got outshot, TCU went 11 for 27 from beyond the arc at 40 percent while Tech shot 55 percent, both teams tied on rebounding at 30 a piece, and finally TCU did not play defense at all in the second half.

On the bright side for TCU, Mike Miles did return to play today and had a great game back. He finished the night with 16 pints, two rebounds, and one assist.

Next up TCU will be back in Fort Worth on Tuesday, February 15 to take on Iowa State. Tip off in Schollmaier Arena is at 8 PM.
