Mavericks vs Heat Preview

MIAMI, FL – The Dallas Mavericks (33-24) are heading to Miami to take on the Miami Heat (37-20) on Tuesday night in American Airlines Arena. Dallas is coming off of a split series with the Los Angeles Clippers last week.

This week will be the last two games that Dallas will play before heading into all-star break, as they have all of next week off. They play the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night.

Luka Doncic has been the star of the show these last couple weeks breaking all the records with his 51-point game and then following with a 45-point game.

The Heat are on a hot streak (no pun intended) winning five-straight games. They have the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Heat are 19-6 when they have the home court advantage and Dallas is 13-13 when they are on the road.

Tonight will be the first time Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans will be playing in a Dallas jersey. The two newcomers were the outcome of the Kristaps Porzingis trade last week.

Everyone is excited to see how these two can fit into the lineup. Will they give Dallas the extra push that they need? Or will they mess up the mojo that the Mavs have?

Bertans is a shooter. He is here to knock the lights out and we need more of that from the entire Dallas team, with the exception of Luka.

Dinwiddle is going to be more of a puzzle piece and the Mavs are going to have to figure out where he fits best within this lineup.

What it’s going to come down to tonight is if Dallas can close out on Miami’s three-point shooting. Miami is the no. 1 shooting team right now from beyond the arc, averaging 38 percent. The Mavs are known for their tough defense though after the new coaching staff arrived in late summer of last year.

Tip off is set for 6:30 PM.
