AUSTIN, TX – TCU (17-9, 6-8) lost to No. 20 Texas (20-8, 9-6) 75-66 on Wednesday night in the Erwin Center.

The Frogs held their own the entire first half leading by five at the break. TCU entered the second half with the same energy. They got ahead double figures and then turnovers and poor defense allowed Texas to come back to take the victory over TCU.

According to Jamie Dixon the loss came down to three things – turnovers, rebounding, and free throws. TCU threw the ball away 17 times and had only forced eight. They got outrebounded 30 to 28 and the Frogs were sent to the freethrow line 11 times and made eight and Texas was sent to the line 29 times and made 24.

Texas fell to a 10-point deficit but went on a 17-2 run with 13 minutes remaining to take the lead and they kept that lead the remainder of the game.

TCU has lost four of their last five games and three of them were to ranked teams.

Mike Miles led with 17 points, one rebound, and three assists. Micah Peavy added 11 points and  four rebounds. These were the only two Frogs to score in double figures.

Texas had four players score in double figures – Andrew Jones led with 21 points, Marcus Carr had 19 points, Timmy Allen had 17 points, and Christian Bishop had 10 points.

Texas went 24-of-29 from the free throw line and made 17-of-18 in the second half.

“We had our chance, had our opportunity, we’re playing for fourth place. That’s what I told our guys, but we didn’t deserve it.” Dixon Said.

TCU will have to win some of these last few games if they want to lock their NCAA tournament status in.

The Frogs will be back in Fort Worth on Saturday to host No. 9 Texas Tech at 5 PM.
