FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas launches its season, at home at the Toyota Stadium against Toronto FC.
It was a defensive game for both MLS teams, as they fought rigorously. Starting off at the 9th minute, Jáder Obrain bringing home a right footed shot, from a very close range to the high center of the goal. The goal assisted by the winger Paul Arriola, positioned Dallas in the lead, which shortly followed by a of foul noted by the duo.
Meanwhile Toronto’s, Jacob Shaffelburg marked the first yellow card of the night, shortly following a right footed goal from the right side of the yard back, shot by the midfielder, Johnathan Osorio…tying this opener 1 to 1. Through the second half, Toronto brought in hefty subs, replacing several of its main line up, including: Achara sub for Deandre Kerr. Following suit, Head Coach, Nico Estévez saw the opportunity to sub Tsiki Ntsabeleng for Brandon Servania, Nanú for Paul Arriola and Kalil ElMedkhar for Emmanuel Twumasi.
As for, Head Coach, Nico Estévez states, his strategy was about results, when asked about his head coaching debut with FC Dallas. “We have a solid defensive backline…When you play in home you want to win, we couldn’t obtain that point, we are not happy with not being able to obtain the 3 points but we are motivated by the results. “
Newcomer, Paul Ariola made his season debut as well with the North Texas team, assisting a cross right footed shot to Brandon Sevania. “It was an open game…it was the first game of the year and we give to Toronto; they are a quality team. I think though, we left the field missing something, leaving something behind. We thought we deserved more and that is on attacking and making sure we are more effective out on the field.” Paul Arriola, Winger FC Dallas. Coming to an overtime, the draw was shortly concluded after attempted through ball, by Pomykal resulting in a 1 to 1.
