SMU vs Tulsa Preview

FORT WORTH, Texas — The Mustangs are 22-7 overall, and finished 2nd in the American Athletic Conference regular season rankings. The 2 seed earned the Mustangs a 1st round bye, so they start their Air Force Reserve AAC Tournament in the quarterfinals against the 10 seed, Tulsa on Friday evening.

The Mustangs have been outstanding so far, finishing their slate of home games with an undefeated record (16-0) at Moody Coliseum. SMU split with Houston, the AAC regular season champs.

SMU beat Tulsa in both regular season matchups this year. The Golden Hurricane upset the 7 seed, Wichita State in round 1 on Thursday.

SMU Point Guard, Kendric Davis was named AAC Player of the Year when the conference honors came out after the regular season. Davis leads the conference in scoring, averaging almost 20 points per game. Marcus Weathers earned a spot on the AAC 2nd team roster. Weathers’ 7 double-doubles lead the AAC.

Quarterfinal tip-off will be at 6pm CT in Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The winner will move on to the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. The championship game will be Sunday.
