SAN DIEGO, CA – TCU is looking to make a run in the NCAA tournament after knocking off two top ten teams in the final week of regular season (Texas Tech and Kansas). The No. 9 seed is scheduled to take on No. 8 Seton Hall in San Diego on Friday night at 8:57 PM.
The Horned Frogs are 20-12 in regular season and finished fifth in the Big 12 Conference. TCU lost some questionable games mid season making their NCAA tournament appearance seem far. The final two weeks of their season were extremely tough and Dixon and Co. were told they had to win many of them in order to make the tournament.
TCU beat two top ten teams in the final week and all eyes were on TCU and what they were capable of. With those two wins that gave head coach Jamie Dixon his first NCAA appearance since 2018.
The one thing that TCU brings to the table is their presence in the paint. They finished fourth in the country in rebounding and they crash the boards. They were Big 12 best at offensive boards at 13 per game. This will be something to look into in tonight’s game as Seton Hall starts all five players who are 6’6 or taller including a 7-footer.
They are led down low by Eddie Lampkin. He is the energy of this entire TCU team. If you haven’t watched TCU yet this season keep an eye out for Lampkin in the tournament because he leaves it all on the court.
If TCU can pull off this win it will be the Frogs first NCAA tournament win since 1987 when head coach Jamie Dixon was a senior point guard at TCU.
TCU has lost three of their last four games but don’t underestimate this team, they did beat Kansas and Texas Tech two weeks ago.
Seton Hall is coming into this game with losing their last game of the season to UConn. Despite losing their final game of the season they have won six of their last seven games finishing the season at 21-10.
This game will be a battle and something you won’t want to miss.
