SAN DIEGO, CA – TCU won their first NCAA tournament game in 35 years on Friday night after blowing the competition out of the water in San Diego. The No. 9 seed took a 69-42 victory over No. 8 Seton Hall and it was pretty to watch for TCU fans.
“It’s been a long time coming. I think this program is slowly shifting the culture of TCU basketball. I think we’re showing what TCU basketball is all about.”, Emmanuel Miller told us after the game.
The Frogs got out to an early 28-15 lead and cruised from there. Their offense was stellar and shooting 50 percent as a team and 40 percent from beyond the arc. Seton Hall couldn’t say the same, they struggled all night shooting just 28 percent from the floor in both categories.
Mike Miles led the Frogs with 21 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Damion Bough followed up with 14 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
What really made a difference in this game was TCU’s intense defense. They only allowed Seton Hall to score 42 points in the entire game, 21 per half. The Frogs also did what they do best and rebounded. They out rebounded Seton Hall 39-26. Every game that they have outrebounded has gone in their favor.
Seton Hall got in foul trouble early and it didn’t help that they had one of their star players out for the remainder of the season due to a concussion.
TCU will have a true test come Sunday against No. 1 Arizona. Tip off is set for 8:40 PM. The No. 9 seed is looking to upset this Arizona team, they have upset teams this year already and after all…. It is March… let the madness begin.
