DALLAS, TX – The Dallas Mavericks (47-29) wiped the floor with the Lakers (31-44) 128-110 in American Airlines Center on Tuesday night.
Luka Doncic led the Mavs with 32 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. With that being said, he posted that triple-double in the first 30 minutes of play.
The Mavericks wasted no time getting up on the Lakers early. They took a 43-25 lead in the first quarter and Dallas was on a roll from there. The Mavs rolled through the first half taking a 82-56 lead into the locker room and it was over from there.
The Lakers tried to make a late comeback in the fourth out scoring the Mavs 26-15 but it was too far gone. Dallas took a 128-110 win over the Lakers and are starting to creep closer and closer to the no. 3 seed in the West.
Dallas is currently one game behind the Golden State Warriors who are currently No. 3 in the West. They are without Steph Curry who has been out with a foot injury. The Warriors are on a three-game losing streak while Dallas has won two straight and seven of their last 10 games.
The Mavs remaining schedule includes the Cavs Wednesday night, Wizards, Bucks, Pistons, Trail Blazers, and Spurs. If the Mavs can win two more games they will secure a playoff spot and take the No. 3 seed if the Warriors continue to lose.
Jason Kidd is looking like the right fit for Dallas as he has Luka Doncic leading the charge for what could be a big playoff run for the Head Coaches first season with the Mavs.
“I think we’re a way better team now. … He’s been great for us,” Doncic said of Kidd, per Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News. “He communicates with the players. He’s just been great, helping not just me but everybody, just to see a better picture.”
“Hopefully, as we go forward with the environment and culture that we’re building, we’ll talk about 50 [wins] and that’s what we’ll build on going forward,” Kidd told us in his postgame press conference.
Dallas will head to Cleveland to take on The Cavs on Wednesday night. Tip off is set for 6PM CST.
