The Dallas Mavericks Clinch An NBA Playoff Spot After Defeating Cavs 120-112

CLEVELAND, OH – The Dallas Mavericks (48-29) have clinched an NBA playoff spot after defeating the Cavs (42-34) on Wednesday night 120-112.

Luka Doncic is on fire these last few games before entering the playoffs. Doncic finished the night with 35 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists. In Luka’s last three games he is averaging 33 points per game, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Dorian Finney-Smith had a great night as well. He ended the night with 28 points, two rebounds, and three assists. That is a new career high for the Finney-Smith.

“He tried to get me to 30.” Finney-Smith told reporters after the game Doncic was trying to get him the ball so he could have 30 points for the night.

The Mavs had a great day of shooting finishing the night 52 percent and Dallas finished with a whopping 16 three-pointers.

It was a little shaky in the first half for the Mavs as it seems they went into a shooting slump in the second quarter missing all seven three-point attempts. With that they went into the locker room down 67-61.

That all changed in the third quarter and Doncic and Finney-Smith went on a rampage scoring 36 of Dallas’s 39 points in the quarter. The Mavs held the Cavs to just seven points in the remaining seven minutes of the third quarter and Dallas took a 100-89 lead entering the fourth quarter.

The Mavs continued to play good basketball and they held off the Cavs long enough to take the win and secure a playoff spot.

Dallas has now won three straight games and are headed to Washington to play the Wizards on Friday night. Tip off is 6 PM CST.
