Mavs Lose Big to The Suns in Game 5

PHOENIX, AZ – The Dallas Mavericks lost big to the Phoenix Suns in game 5 in Phoenix on Tuesday night. After a disastrous third quarter they could not regroup and lost 110-80.

The Mavs lost by 30, but the game didn’t start off that ugly. Dallas started the game off in the lead for the beginning of the first quarter. The Mavs were playing great as a team and it looked like it was going in their favor. Dallas took a 26-23 lead entering the second quarter.

The second quarter Dallas still was playing really well, the Suns started to knock down some shots and both teams were going back and forth. Phoenix played a solid five minutes and ended the half with a three point lead over Dallas.

What was a very close game at the half got very ugly very quickly for the Mavs. Dallas could not get it together the entire third quarter and it got very out of hand. Dallas ended up getting out scored 33-14 in the third quarter and taking a 82-60 lead into the fourth quarter.

Looking at a 22-point deficit the Mavs had an uphill battle the entire fourth quarter. Dallas could not get it together and rally to a victory in the Valley. The Suns took game five and both teams will head back to Dallas for game six in Dallas at American Airlines Center at 8:30 PM.

The Mavs did not have a lot of offensive groove. Reggie Bullock converted on zero baskets, Dwight Powell converted on zero buckets. Dorian Finney-Smith had eight points and Maxi Kleber had four points.

KEY PLAYERS:

Luka Doncic had 28 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.

Jalen Brunson had 21 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
