Cowboys Wrap Up Rookie Mini Camp

FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys wrapped up rookie mini camp on Saturday afternoon and D210SPORTS had the opportunity to speak with a lot of the Cowboys new draft picks.

The fourth round draft pick tight end Jake Furguson looks like he’s going to be doing a lot of blocking for the Cowboy’s. Coming from Wisconsin, Ferguson did a lot of that in his time as a Badger so Ferguson said that he is used to that.

We also did get an updated injury report on Damone Clark. According to Head Coach Mike McCarthy he won’t play too early. They don’t want to rush the recovery and rehab process.

“His rehab is going nicely.” McCarthy said.

Clark has been at rookie mini camp watching and learning alongside his teammate. Clark told us after mini camp today that when he does get the opportunity to get back on the field it’s going to be a fast transition and he wants to be ready for that when he does get to see some reps.

“I feel good. If we had a game tomorrow I feel like I could go out there and play but that’s just my mentality.” Clark stated.

More injury updates were made on Michael Gallup. His return date is still up in the air and due to that there is a possibility that Jalen Tolbert will see the field early for the Cowboy’s. Tolbert seems to be ready for that. He told the media that after he was drafted he spoke with Dak Prescott on the phone and asked him to send him the playbook so he could get a head start on the plays.

John Ridgeway, the fifth round pick, was talking about his biggest obstacle is learning the play book. He said that one of the hardest transitions from college to the NFL is the pace of the game. He said in college you get breaks and in the NFL it is way faster play and you are going against great players every week.

The Dallas Cowboys will start OTA’s at the end of May. This will be the first time that the rookies will have the opportunity to hit the field with the veterans.
