ARLINGTON, TX- The Dallas Wings (2-2) are in Arizona where they will take on the Phoenix Mercury tonight, Thursday, May 19, at 9 p.m. CT (2-2). Dallas is coming off of Tuesday’s loss, at home, against The Washington Mystics where the Wing’s team dynamic seemed absent.
Head Coach Vickie Johnson shared her thoughts on Tuesday’s game, “ We control our destiny, we didn’t play together, we didn’t move the basketball, we didn’t take pride.” Coach VJ also stated, “ I don’t know exactly what happened. Maybe we got a little too relaxed, I don’t know.”
This will be the Wing’s first time this season facing the Phoenix Mercury. While Dallas has an undefeated season on the road, both teams are currently sitting at 2-2. The last time these two faced each other was in early June 2021, which resulted in a back-to-back victory for the Wings.
The Wings have a vigorous starting lineup that offers four players that have offensively put up double-digits in three straight games. Both Marina Mabrey and Allisha Gray have been highlighted as the top two offensive performers who have scored 10 points or more in every
game played this season.
Superstar guard Arike Ogunbowale is the league’s third-fastest player to reach 1,000 career points in the WNBA (51 games). The impressive stats of the All-American Norte Dame Alumni gives this Dallas team a lot to comprehend with.
Forward Satou Sabally is back with the team after finishing her season overseas in Turkey. Sabally is projected to not play in tonight’s match-up against Phoenix as coach VJ has decided to make her debut Saturday, May 21st. Tonight’s showdown will be broadcasted on Bally Sports Southwest Extra at 9 P.M CT.
