Mavs Lose Big To Warriors In Game One Of Western Conference Finals

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Dallas Mavericks lose 112-87 to the Golden State Warriors in game one of Western Conference Finals in San Francisco on Wednesday night.

The issue tonight was clearly Dallas’s ability to shoot the ball. They shot 11-of-48 from beyond the arc at 22.9 percent.

“When you shoot 48 three’s you just have to make some and we didn’t make any.” Head Coach Jason Kidd told the media after the game that they just needed to get some of their shots to fall. There were many open three’s that the Mavs missed as well but when the majority of Dallas’s offense tonight was from beyond the arc they needed to convert on some shots.

“There were a lot of great looks, they just didn’t go down.” Kidd said.

Mavs shot 36 percent from the floor while Golden State shot 56 percent from the floor.

Dallas also got killed on the boards tonight. The Warriors outrebounded Dallas 51-35 while having 44 points in the paint and Dallas only had 32 points in the paint.

Both Luka Doncic and Steph Curry were quiet tonight. Neither one of them went off and scored 50 points. They both had moderate games, Doncic had 20 points while Curry had 21 points.

Two of the playmakers for the Warriors tonight that made a difference in this game were Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole. They both contributed 19 points a piece and their play tonight really helped Golden State solidify this win early.

Spencer Dinwiddie and Jalen Brunson helped Doncic tonight after Luka couldn’t really find his groove with his shot downtown shooting 3-of-10. Dinwiddie had a great game off the bench contributing 17 points for Dallas. Brunson added 14 points.

“Their a good team, you have to give them credit. We need to finish quarters better. We know that they are a great third quarter team and we need to finish quarters better.” Brunson told the media after the game.

“We aren’t going to dwell on it but we do know we need to be better.” Brunson.

“We just have to be better. Plain and simple.” Brunson.

The Mavs will play game two in San Francisco on Friday night at 8 PM.
