FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys shortened minicamp this week from three days down to one day. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said that everything that they needed to get done in the offseason was completed and there was no reason to strain the players.
McCarthy took the team to TopGolf Wednesday afternoon for a team bonding experience. He believes that it’s very important to build his players on and off the field and he felt that the team bonding experience was really good for the team.
“We want them mentally to keep their eye on the road.” Coach McCarthy said that the main purpose of the offseason is to prepare for training camp and he said that’s exactly what they did.
McCarthy stated that they wished they could get outside more than they did. The heat is not an issue, it was the wind that was an issue. The one day of minicamp was indoors due to 20 mph winds.
McCarthy said, “This is the best I’ve felt about a team when it comes to preparation.” McCarthy has stated that he feels because there are no COVID prodigals and everyone is allowed in the facility and can work out at any time it feels that they are more along in the process than last year’s team.
The players have the month off until they have to report to training camp on July 26th in Oxnard, California.
McCarthy said a lot of the guys are staying in town for the month. He said the facilities that they have at the Star are top tear and a lot of the players will be using the facilities to workout during this time that they have off.
