Wings Put Out Sun, 89 – 79

MONTVILLE, CT- The Dallas Wings picked up their first playoff win since 2009. The team came out hot with a 16-point lead during the first half and held on till the end, finishing the game 89-79.

Dallas set the tone of the game with their new lineup which included tonight’s point-leader, Kayla Thornton, who put up 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Followed by Allisha Gray with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and Marina Mabrey with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. 

Head Coach Vickie Johnson highlighted Veronica Burton’s huge impact on the defense.

” She doesn’t really seem like a rookie to be honest with you. Her focus defensively is huge for us. How she can put pressure on the basketball. Also now she’s knocking down shots….She is going to continue to improve.”

The Dallas Wings will take home court Wednesday night for the third matchup against the Connecticut Suns. Tip-off is scheduled for 8PM.
