Cowboys Defense Leads to Defeat For The Seahawks

FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Seattle Seahawks 27-26 in their final dress rehearsal before the regular season kicks off September 11 against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs.

The defense was locked and loaded tonight giving Dallas everything they needed when they couldn’t find it on offense. Dallas finished the night with five takeaways, four being interceptions, and two of which resulted in touchdowns.

Nahshon Wright was one of the players to tally an interception and he told us, “It felt good.” This is Wright’s second camp and he said, “I just have to come out every day and compete.”

Dallas got down 10-0 in the first half but the defense rallied at the end of the half to bring the Cowboys within three. It all started with that interception from Wright that resulted in a touchdown pass from Grier to Simi Fehoko.

Grier didn’t have the best half, he finished 7-of-15 for 36 yards and one touchdown. Grier had a hard time getting into rhythm with the wide receivers early in the game, partially because the offensive line was struggling forcing him to act quick on his feet. Grier finished the night going 12-of-22 for 88 yards and two touchdowns.

Grier entered the game midway through the first quarter and played the remainder of the game. Cooper Rush started for the Cowboys and played one series before being taken out. Cooper finished the night 2-of-5 for 20 yards.

LB Anthony Barr saw the field for the Cowboys in the opening series but didn’t play after that.

The Seahawks answered in the beginning of the third quarter for another Seattle touchdown making it a 20-10 gap for the Cowboys.

The defense continued to pick up the pieces for this struggling offense. Towards the tail end of the third quarter Markquese Bell has an interception making that interception number three for the Cowboys. Bell’s interception turned into a touchdown by an award winning catch by Brandon Smith in the corner of the endzone to tie the game at 20-20. Both teams were scoreless for the remainder of the quarter entering the fourth break even.

Seahawks added two more field goals midway through the fourth quarter to take a 26-20 lead. But Dallas answered right back with a touchdown pass to Peyton Hendershot to give the Cowboys a one-point lead with a little over four minutes left in the game.

Dallas’s defense yet again rallied at the end with their fourth and final interception of the night made by Juanyeh Thomas to finish off the game for Dallas.

The Cowboys wrapped up preseason with a 2-1 record. They will have Labor Day weekend off before hosting Tampa Bay on September 11 in AT&T Stadium at 7:20 PM CST.
