BOULDER, CO — TCU started off the Sonny Dykes era with a bang with a convincing 38-13 win over Colorado. This game took place at Colorado giving the Buffalos the home field advantage but that did not matter as many different players stepped up big time to help secure the win.
The game was on a rain delay which gave both teams a very slow start but Derius Davis was the spark this team needed as he scored on a 60-yard punt return.
The question leading up to this game was who is going to be the starting quarterback. They went with Chandler Morris who played last year after starter Max Duggan got hurt. Well it seems like deja vu because during this game Morris suffered an injury to his leg. Duggan then took over and provided a 80 yard drive that ended in a 3 yard touchdown run for Kendre Miller.
Davis was the key player in this game not only did he provide the spark they needed to get the game going he also scored in the fourth quarter on a reverse trick play. After scoring off the punt return he can now put himself in the record book as he tied KaVontae Turpin for the most in school history.
TCU will be back in action September 10th as they take on Tarleton State in their home opener and the following weekend they will take on Sonny Dykes’ previous school, SMU, which will be a game you do not want to miss.
