Fort Worth, Texas – The TCU Horned Frogs are opening up their first Big 12 conference game against Oklahoma on Saturday at 11:00am. TCU will try to win its first Big 12 opener since 2019 when they took on Kansas. This is definitely not an easy conference opener but let’s not count the horned frogs out. TCU is 3-0 and has played two decent programs Colorado and rival SMU. After coming off the huge SMU win this team is pumped up and ready to make another statement.
Oklahoma comes into this game with a 2-1 record after losing last week to Kansas State. Oklahoma fans had thought that with Veneables coming into this program it would change the entire defense. Well it looked that way during the first three games but after the showing last weekend fans are now skeptical. The Oklahoma offense has to show up against a tough TCU defense to win this one.
As far as TCU goes they are in decent shape defensively because they have a veteran squad. The offense has been playing well under Max Duggan but if Oklahoma’s defense shows up how they did in weeks 1-3 it might give them a run for their money. Duggan ranks ninth nationally in Quarterback rating (86.7). Not bad for someone who got benched to start the season. His mindset and competitiveness has helped propel this team to success in the non conference games so far.
Overall this will be a tight game and I think it will go right up to the final whistle. TCU has the home field advantage which could also work in their favor but only time will tell.
