Cowboys Defense Continues to Hold Down the Fort and Leads Dallas to Fourth Straight Win Over the Rams

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Dallas Cowboys (4-1) win their fourth straight game in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon to the Rams (2-3). The Cowboys defense continues to hold down the fort for Dallas this season. The defense is only giving up 14.4 points per game to their opponents so far this season.

Dallas’s four straight wins this season include two wins from the two teams that played in the Super Bowl last year; the L.A. Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The game started off with a lot of action for the Cowboys, in particular Dorence Armstrong. He had two solid plays that put Dallas on the board. Armstrong strip-sacked the ball forcing a fumble which was picked up by DeMarcus Lawrence for a touchdown. That put the Cowboys up 6-0. Two minutes later Armstrong comes back again with a punt block giving Dallas the ball back which resulted in a field goal. Dallas went up 9-0 in the first four minutes of the game and it was all thanks to Armstrong.

Matthew Stafford and the Rams answered with a 76-yard touchdown from a one-handed catch from Cooper Kupp to put the L.A. on the board 9-7.

The game was still too close for comfort and Tony Pollard answered right back with a 57-yard touchdown after breaking three tackles, putting Dallas back up 15-7.

Pollard currently holds the three longest plays so far for the Cowboys this season: a 45-yard catch, 46-yard run and a 57-yard run.

The run game produced so much more than it did last week and that was a big emphasis this week during practice. The run game finished with 163 total yards and the Cowboys were led by Tony Pollard with 86 total yards. Ezekeil Elliott finished the night with 78 yards.

Cooper Rush is officially 5-0 in career starts and continues to lead this team to wins. Rush finished the game 10-of-16 for 106 total yards.

The defense continues to hold down the fort for Dallas giving up just 10 points to Los Angeles. The Cowboys have not allowed under 20 points in each of their first five games since 1972. The last teams to do that were in 2019; the Patriots and the Bills.

They were led by none other than Micah Parsons who got injured with a groin injury late in the game but he was not willing to take the remainder of the game off.

“I told Coach (McCarthy) I can’t do a whole lot of running but I can rush.” Parsons said in his post game interview.

Parsons finished the night with two sacks on Matthew Stafford. That makes six sacks in the first five games of the season for the lion. Dallas as a team sacked Stafford five times.

Cooper Kupp led in receiving yards with seven carries for 125 total yards and one touchdown. Cam Akers led the run game with 13 carries for 33 yards.

Cowboys will head to Dallas to Philadelphia to take on the undefeated Eagles for Week six on Sunday night football.
