DALLAS, TX – SMU is set to play the Navy at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Friday October, 13th at 6:30 PM. Coming off a tough loss in their AAC opener to UCF, the Mustangs are looking to secure a conference season win on Friday.
A lot of talk has been centered on a few SMU players said to be sitting out for the rest of the season in order to preserve their red shirt status. However, wide receiver Roderick Daniels is said to be back with the Mustangs and will play on Friday.
Head Coach Rhett Lashlee told reporters during Tuesday’s practice that Daniels has been through a lot this season, including burying his father last Saturday.
“He’s part of the family,” Lashlee said. “He’s always been a part of the family, so he’s here, he wants to be here and we’re glad he’s here.”
Last week’s game against UCF was not only frustrating for fans, but for the coaches and players as well. At halftime, SMU was up 13-10, but were outscored 31-6 in the second half.
Defensive coordinator, Scott Symons, was extremely frustrated with the outcome of last weeks game. “We’ve got to make more plays,” Symons told reporters earlier this week.
In order to secure a path to a conference title, winning Friday’s game against the Navy is pivotal for SMU.
