TCU vs Oklahoma State Preview

FORT WORHT, TEXAS — The Horned Frogs are off to a 5-0 start for the first time since 2017. Last week they took on a tough Kansas team that came into the game also 4-0.  The real test for this team will be this weekend when they take on the highly touted Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Cowboys are ranked 8th in the country making this a top 25 matchup.

Let’s dive into the keys to the game for TCU. Wide Receiver Quintin Johnston started off the season very quiet but against Kansas he showed that he is one of the best in the country. He had 14 receptions for a total of 206 receiving yards. Which is more than he has had in the first four games of the season. With that stand out performance he earned himself the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and Big 12 Player of the Week. Now it’s easy to point out all the success the run game has had and the passing game but what it all boils down to is the offensive line. The offensive line has taken a massive turn this year and is allowing quarterback Max Duggan to have lots of time in the pocket to find his receivers. Also Duggan is the ultimate dual threat quarterback making it hard for the defense to key on just one person. If they utilize their run game and Johnston the offense will be in decent shape.

Now let’s take a look at the Cowboys offense. Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders has been the talk of the Big 12 with the stats to back it up. He is a redshirt senior who has registered 18 total touchdowns including 6 rushing. This dual threat is the ultimate rushing quarterback. He not only can complete deep passes for big gains but he also is not afraid to run it himself to gain the necessary yards. This TCU defense has to get pressure on him early. If they can get pressure on him it will be game over for the Cowboy offense. The game is set for 2:30 tomorrow at Amon G. Carter stadium in Fort Worth.
