ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas Cowboys (5-2) are hosting the Chicago Bears (3-4) in AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Kick off is at 2 PM CST.
Dallas has been struggling to produce on offense all season and QB Dak Prescott will have to keep an eye out for Chicago’s secondary that already has eight interceptions so far this year. One thing going for Prescott is the Bears struggle with pressure up front from their pass rush, giving Prescott more time in the pocket.
The Cowboy’s already rely heavily in their run game and with a questionable Ezekiel Elliott on Sunday night expect to see more out of Tony Pollard.
“Whatever they ask me to carry, I got it. They call it, imma haul it.” Pollard told us after practice on Sunday afternoon that he is ready to go. He said he is able to take more carries per game if that is what the team needs from him.
Dallas has yet to announce whether Elliott will play on Sunday or not. As of Thursday he had not practiced with the team and was with the rehab group.
The Bears run defense is one of their weaknesses ranked no. 30 in the league in yards per game. With a solid secondary that can intercept the ball it might be in the Cowboy’s best interest to keep the ball on the ground.
Chicago might look to do the same as Dallas leads the league in sacks with 29 thanks to the dominant pass rush the Cowboys bring to the table every weekend. Micah Parsons has seven of those and is tied for second for most sacks so far this season behind New England Patriots LB Matthew Judon who currently has 8.5.
The Cowboys secondary is also unsettling to opponents, they have seven interceptions so far this season led by Trevon Diggs who currently has three this season which is currently second best in the league behind Buffalo Bills Jordan Poyer and Seattle Seahawks Tariq Woolen who both have four.
Both teams are coming off of solid wins, the Cowboys took a 24-6 victory over the Lions and the Bears beat the Patriots 33-14. Chicago put up 33 points in their last matchup and their offense seems to have it together. Their defense is right there with them and not giving up much.
Dallas is really going to have to find a rhythm here on offense soon before it starts costing them games.
“We are young on the offensive side of the ball.” Head Coach Mike McCarthy said in Thursday morning’s press conference. McCarthy admitted they are more defined on the defensive side of the ball and need more work on the offensive side.
Dallas brings the heat on defense every week, ranked second in the league. With that being said Prescott still needs to find rhythm with his offense and get some points on the board.
