FRISCO, TEXAS — The Dallas Cowboys (6-2) are heading to Green Bay after a bye week to take on the Packers (3-6) on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 PM for Week 10.
Aaron Rodgers and company have been struggling this season and can’t seem to find a rhythm on offense. They have lost five straight games including last week’s loss to one of, if not the worst team in the NFL, the Detroit Lions (1-5). Rodgers threw three interceptions, two of which were in the endzone.
Detroit’s defense is good but the Cowboys defense is better. Rodgers pass protection is going to be on center stage on Sunday against Micah Parsons and the rest of Dallas’s stellar pash rush. Parsons has eight sacks so far this season and 14 quarterback hits. The Cowboys have the top pass rush in the league and Rodgers and the Packers offense will have to deal with four Cowboys that have four plus sacks; Micah Parsons(8), Dorance Armstrong(5), DeMarcus Lawrence(4), Donte Fowler Jr.(4).
“I watch him every week. I know my buddy Bill Belichick is gonna get mad at me, but (Parsons) may be the best player I’ve seen. Of course, Bill is gonna say Lawrence Taylor. But Micah Parsons amazes me. He’s a special individual.” Jimmy Johnson stated on Thursday.
“Dan does a great job using him. He’s got a lot of things you just can’t coach. The effort he plays with is incredible. … He’s definitely a 1 of 1 in this league. I don’t know if there’s anybody doing as many things as they’re asking him to do.” Aaron Rodgers on Micah Parsons.
The Cowboys currently lead the league in sacks with 33 total on the year and their pass defense is ranked 7th in the league with a 81.5 percent rating.
Dallas has a great pass rush but their pass defense is not something to take lightly either. Trevon Diggs has three interceptions on the year and creates issues for opposing wide receivers.
On the offensive side of the ball Dak Prescott is expected to have his right hand man back in action on Sunday, Ezekiel Elliott, who did not play two weeks ago against Chicago with that knee sprain injury.
“It’s still day by day.” Head Coach Mike McCarthy said in Thursday morning’s press conference. He stated they want to avoid a lingering knee injury like the one Elliott had last season so they are trying to play it safe. Elliott was limited during practice on Wednesday and is expected to be limited again on Thursday.
The Cowboys offense looked stellar against the Bears and was the best offensive performance we have seen from Dallas all season. Prescott finished the night with 250 total yards and two touchdowns. Prescott had great productivity on the run game as well as their pass offense, both having over 200 yards.
Green Bay’s pass defense is not the best but it is above average and led by Cornerback Jaire Alexander. Alexander will most likely be covering CeeDee Lamb as Lamb leads Dallas in targets and carries per game.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM CST in Lambeau Field on Sunday November 13.
