Mavericks Slide By Clippers 103-101

DALLAS, TEXAS — What looked like it was going to be an easy game for the Dallas Mavericks turned into a nail biter! A very close game, but Dallas was able to secure a win against the Los Angeles Clippers with a final score of 103-101. This makes the Mavs 8-5 so far this season.

Luka Dončić led the Mavs with 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Doncic and his team fought to the very end to hold on to the win but he was a little confused reacting to a key 3 pointer that helped Dallas avoid a loss after blowing a 25 point lead against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Fans were referring to Luka making the “shush” face he does after every big play. Seemingly, Dončić wanted a bigger reaction, stating,”I wanted a celebration,” Doncic said about the last of his 35 points with 27 seconds remaining. “I’m not going to shush our fans, it’s just a face I make.”

Reggie Bullock was able to break out of a shooting slump with four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, including two in a row to put Dallas ahead.

Head coach Jason Kidd stated, “Reggie (Bullock) made some very big plays that helped us secure the win.” Bullock knocked down four 3-pointers and a late free throw en route to 13 points tonight, both of which marked season-highs.

Dorian Finney-Smith dropped in 21 points (7-13 3FG) to go with 3 rebounds and 3 steals tonight. Finney-Smith’s 21 points were a season-high and his seven 3-pointers marked a career-best.

Dallas will be back at home Wednesday night to take on the Houston Rockets. Tip off is at 7:30pm CT.
