ARLINGTON, TX – We have an instate rivalry this week as the Dallas Cowboys (9-3) host the Houston Texans (1-10-1) in AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Kick off is at noon CST.
Dallas is coming off a great win last Sunday to the Colts where they scored 54 points, 33 of them being in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys are averaging 27 points per game and that’s tied for third best in the league.
Looking ahead to Sunday if Dallas wins which is looking likely. They are a 17-point favorite, which is the highest point spread so far this season, that will be win no. 10 for the Cowboys this season. Win no. 10 will mean back-to-back double-digit win seasons for the first time since 1996. We spoke with Ezekiel Elliott after practice on Wednesday about what it meant to have back-to-back double-digit wins.
“It’s cool, but I know what we all want. Double-digit wins back-to-back seasons is cool, but we want to make a run in the playoffs. That’s what’s important.” Elliott said.
The Cowboys offense was stellar last Sunday against the Colts and Tony Pollard and Elliott seemed to be in unison. They have 220 total yards on the ground and each made their way into the endzone. The run game might be Dallas’s best bet on Sunday as Houston’s run defense lacks, they are currently giving up five yards per carry to RB’s.
Houston has been struggling offensively all season and only have one win in the books. Their pass offense is ranked last in the league and there is no chemistry between QB Davis Mills and any of his wide receivers. The best bet for the Texans right now is with RB DAmion Pierce in the run game. He’s their best weapon as of late and is one of the few players on the offensive side of the ball that can score for Houston.
Defensively, Dallas is going to be all over this Houston Team. They had five takeaways last week against the Colts and gave Matt Ryan a run for his money. The Cowboys had sacks, fumble recoveries, fumble recoveries that led to touchdowns. The pass rush and the secondary was all over the place creating havoc for Indianapolis. Houston is going to have a rough time with all the weapons Dallas has on defense.
