ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas Cowboys (10-3) hold off the Houston Texans (1-11-1) in a 27-23 victory in AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The first half was nothing anybody expected. The Cowboys scored first to make it a 7-0 lead. Houston came back quickly and scored a touchdown after KaVontae Turpin muffed a punt return that gave the Texans the ball on the 24-yard line. Houston converted and tied the game 7-7 with 5:33 left in the first quarter.
Dallas took a 10-7 lead to end the first quarter after a successful kick from Brett Maher.
To start the second quarter Tony Pollard scored his second touchdown for the Cowboys, giving Dallas a 14-10 lead over Houston. With that touchdown Pollard recorded his 12th touchdown this season. He scored 11 touchdowns in his first three seasons total.
Dak then threw an interception, his third straight game with an interception, and the Texans capitalized again converting Dallas’s turnovers into points. Houston scored a touchdown and took the lead 17-14.
Houston held a 20-17 lead entering the half.
The third quarter was full of missed third down conversions for both teams and a field goal made by Houston. Dallas answered with a field goal in the beginning of the fourth quarter but Houston led for the majority of this game.
One of the issues Dallas had in this game was multiple injuries. CB Trevon Diggs left the game for a brief moment and scared the entire Cowboys Nation for a matter of minutes before he returned to the field. While he was in the locker room dealing with a left hand injury that left DaRon Bland , Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright as the three corners left for Dallas due to Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown already out with injuries.
Diggs ended up returning to the game but had things been different Dallas would’ve really had to start discussing the lack of depth they currently have at cornerback because of injuries.
The Cowboys also had to finish the second half without RT Terence Steele (left knee), DT Johnathan Hankins (right shoulder), and TE Jake Ferguson (head/neck). All were ruled out for the remainder of the game.
With two minutes remaining in the second fourth quarter Dallas was still down 23-20. The Cowboys offense had possession and Prescott finished the game with a 11 play 98 yard series to and it finished with a Elliott touchdown for the Cowboys win.
