AUSTIN, TEXAS — Coming into Wednesday nights game TCU knew that starting guard Marcus Carr would look to put early pressure on TCU guard Mike Miles.

The defensive pressure of Texas was present as it forced TCU into taking 2 early first half timeouts.

Then the frogs took off from there. Mike Miles put up 10 points and Xavier Cork was able to get to the glass quickly. TCU struggled with free throws and turnovers in the game against Iowa State but were able to make the adjustments against the Longhorns.

Texas averages 11 turnovers per game and TCU was able to force them to 9 TO’s and went 10-11 in free throws in the first half. The frogs led the Longhorns with a 13-point lead, 42-29.

During the second half it was a back and forth game and TCU was unable to pull away like they did in the 1st half. Texas comeback with he help of guard G Sir’Jabari Rice and forward Dylan Disu.

Emmanuel Miller noted that they did first during the first half holding down Texas’s field goal percentage down but struggled in the second half.

” They shot above fifty percent,” said Miller. “No matter what team you play if they’re shooting above fifty percent during the second half, the outcome isn’t going to be the way you want it.”

The game tied with 3:50 left to play, 69-69.

Mike Miles fouled Texas forward Timmy Allen with 6 seconds left giving Allen a chance to 2 free throws. Allen completed 1-2 closing the game 79-75.

Head Coach Jamie Dixon said that Texas capitalized on loose balls and were able to complete too many layups.

“I thought our defense was very good in the first half,” said Dixon. “We were very active and aggressive but we couldn’t sustain it.”

TCU is now 13-3 and will face the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday the 14th at home. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
