DALLAS, Texas – In a hard fought battle to the end, SMU lost to Wichita State, 71 to 69.
Wichita took the lead early in the first quarter, and held strong on the defensive side of the ball keeping SMU at zero points until 7 minutes into the game.
The Mustangs defense held Wichita at a reasonable distance, allowing SMU offense to take the lead by the end of the first half.
The second half score bounced back and forth between the two teams. With 1 minute and 40 seconds left in the second half, SMU went on a 15-0 run and took the lead. However, due to a Mustang three point shooting foul, Wichita Jr. Graig Porter swished all three free throws. Wichita ran out the clock with a two point lead until the buzzer.
SMU is currently 2-5 in conference play and 7-13 overall.
The Mustangs will travel to play Memphis this Thursday, 26th.
