TCU Overcomes Four-Game Losing Streak With Win Against OSU

FORT WORTH, TX — TCU knew that they had to get the job done and they did just that. The Frogs took down the OSU Cowboys for the first time this season 100-75.

Emmanuel Miller led the Frogs with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

In the first half TCU displayed physical defense, putting pressure early on OSU. In the preseason player of the year’s return Mike Miles led with 9 points and went 4-5 in free throws.

OSU’s head coach Mike Boynton said it’s clear that Mike Miles is great player and there’s a reason why he is named one of the best in college basketball.

“He sets the tone for everything everyone else does,” said Boynton. ” So without him you can take away the strengths of the other guys because you aren’t worried about what he is going to do. The numbers don’t say that he is a dominant force but his presence is what makes all the difference.”

He also noted what a talented team TCU is when all their parts are healthy.

“They’re a team that could take it all the way,” said Boynton. ” Play March and early April. They’re that good.”

The team went into the half with their first lead in a few weeks 47-27.

The second half did not look any different when it came to the Frogs game.

It was a full team effort but the trio that got the ball moving were Mike Miles, Damion Baugh, and Emmanuel Miller. Miles with 15 points, Baugh with 16 and Miller with 18.

OSU began putting full court pressure mid-way through the second half when it came down to crunch time with five minutes remaining and a 19-point deficit.

Unfortunately this did not phase the Frogs.

Emmanuel Miller said postgame that it’s hard to tell how the remainder of the season will look like based off one win but knows that they’re moving in the right direction.

” The past four games we haven’t been showing our culture and our identity,” said Miller. “But today on the court you got a little glimpse of what this TCU Men’s Basketball team is all about.”

UP NEXT: TCU will prepare to face No.5 Kansas Jayhawks on Monday night in the Schollmaier Arena. Tip off is at 8 p.m.
