Renegades and Roughnecks Both Clinch Playoff Spots, Will Face-Off In Regular Season Finale

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — It’s week 10 in the XFL season. The Arlington Renegades are preparing to take on the Houston Roughnecks for the second time this season. The biggest factor at this point in this season is what teams will clench their spot in the playoffs. It’s also the last game of the regular season for both teams, and there’s still a lot of ground to cover.

Houston managed to clinch the top spot in the South Division of the XFL standings with a solid 6-3 record, completing their run with a 28-21 win against the Vegas Vipers last week.

Renegades (4-5) secured a spot in the XFL postseason with today’s San Antonio Brahmas loss to the D.C. Defenders at The Alamodome.

Arlington will face the Houston Roughnecks (6-3) in the XFL South Division Championship game next Saturday, April 29 at TDECU Stadium in Houston.

Despite QB Luis Perez’s impressive performances he’s been showing, Arlington’s defense struggled against DC’s rushing offense last week. Perez has thrown for 1,431 yards and nine TDs, but has added six interceptions. Running back De’Veon Smith has seven touchdowns with 365 yards.

On Wednesday, Arlington head coach Bob Stoops spoke with the media stating, “if these guys really want to be in the playoffs they are going to have to fight for it. I’m proud of the performance they put on last week against the Defenders but we came up short and we can’t do that this week.”

Kick off is at 2pm C/T.
