Dallas Cowboys First Round Draft Pick Miza Smith Has Touched Down At Cowboys Headquarters

FRISCO, TX – Mazi Smith, the 26th overall pick in the draft for the Dallas Cowboys, touched down in Frisco Friday morning. We got to speak with him the first time in his first press conference at the Star on Friday afternoon.

“I know they brought me here to stop the run.” Smith stated after being asked what his role is going to be here in Dallas. Smith is very confident in his strength ability and says he will not Dallas down.

Smith has tremendous strength and his ability to do damage in the middle and stop the run is exactly what the Cowboys were looking for.

“I felt like I left the powerhouse of the NFL.” Smith spoke about his 30 visit with the Cowboys prior to the draft. He said, “the first thing I realized was there was a lot of money in here.”

Jerry Jones stated that they take their 30 visits very seriously and usually their pick is one of the 30 players that comes to visit. Jones stated he loved what he saw in Smith when he came and new he would be a good fit.

Jane Slater from NFLNetwork asked what it felt like to get that call on draft night from Jerry Jones and Smith said, “It’s a legendary person calling my phone and it comes from a legendary place.”

Smith was also very open in the presser about how his Mom is his no. 1 and that is why he only had her with him during the draft. He said it has only been him and her his whole life and he wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Smith expressed to us that his mom has sacrificed a lot for him and there is no way he will ever be able to repay her, but he will provide her with a life that she deserves.
