FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys are in conversation with offensive lineman Terence Steele according to Sports Illustrated. They are hoping for a “Cowboy for life.” kind of deal that could be worth up to $50 million.
Steele is a 26 year old undrafted free agent from Texas Tech in 2020 to become the starting Right Tackle for America’s team and arguably one of the NFL’s premium run-blockers. Steele has become what he is on his own and some would call him a “self-made man”.
Steele has successfully come back from a torn ACL and according to head coach Mike McCarthy the concern around his knee is nothing to be worried about. McCarthy said that he might miss the first couple days of training camp in Oxnard but he will be ready to go when the season starts.
If everything goes as planned Steele will return to right tackle and Tyron Smith would go to left tackle while Tyler Smith is at left guard.
The guessing game regarding Steele’s salary is around $52 million for four years. Now, at this time nothing has been confirmed from the front office at The Star in Frisco. If nothing changes Steele will play under his one-year deal for $4.3 million for the 2023 season. Paying $13 million APY to Steele would make him one of the top-25-paid tackles in the NFL.
Dallas has many contracts they have to look over, not just Steele. Trevon Diggs, CeeDee Lamb, Tony Pollard, and Dak Prescott are still waiting for their extensions as well. Prescott being the most important in the room, all of the extensions go into the cap room related issues at the front office.
