FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys (0-2) will finish up their three weeks of preseason against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-0) on Saturday night in AT&T Stadium. Kick off is at 7:00 PM. There’s a lot to break down before the game, this is what you need to know going into Saturday’s matchup.
Rookie LB Demarvion Overshown:
The standout rookie linebacker Demarvion Overshown tore his left ACL in last Saturday’s game against Seattle. Unfortunately, for the young rookie that means he is ruled out for the rest of the season. Overshown had an amazing camp and was getting better and better by the minute. He was a standout star for the defense early and when asked how he felt about the injury he said he was still blessed and sees the injury as a ’bump in the road’ and he is ready to make a comeback story next season.
Markquese Bell spoke on the injury and said that he is comfortable filling the role at the game on Saturday.
“However I can help the team is how I see myself,” said Bell on Wednesday, as the Cowboys wrapped their first padded practice in North Texas. “If they need me at linebacker, safety, hybrid — willing to do whatever. I think I’m a football player, honestly, so it’s whatever they need me to do.” Bell said.
Running Back Position:
With Ezekiell Elliott out of the picture this season a definite area to watch is at tailback. Rico Dowdle, Malik Davis, and Deuce Vaughn are all vying to be the backup to Tony Pollard. All of them had a good camp and had successful preseason games. Most likely two of the three will make the team, one of them being Deuce Vaughn.
Vaughn has had a breakout preseason with 64 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns. He is currently averaging 4.9 yards per carry, which is fourth best in the NFL during preseason. Vaughn already showed sparks during training camp and he continues to show improvement during preseason.
Dowdle arguably had the best camp and had a great game last Saturday against the Seahawks. He led the Cowboys with eight carries for 38 yards in that matchup.
